More Than Rentals: E-Scooter & E-Bike Repairs at VanEcoRide

You’re ready to head out, but your scooter has a flat tire. Or maybe your e-bike brakes have been rubbing, and you’re finally ready to get them checked.

Now comes the question: “Where can I take this for a repair?”

If you know VanEcoRide from renting a bike for the Seawall or picking up snow equipment for the mountains, here’s something you might have missed. We also offer e-scooter and e-bike repairs in Downtown Vancouver, right here at our shop at 181 Smithe St.

It’s been a while since our last blog update, so let’s catch up – and introduce you to our repair services.

What services do we provide?

You don’t need to know exactly what is wrong before contacting us. Start with what you’ve noticed: a tire won’t hold air, brakes that feel weak, or a scooter that suddenly won’t turn on. Here’s a quick look at our services.
What you’ve noticed What we can do
A flat tire or recurring air leak Tire, tube, valve, and wheel inspection; compatible replacements
Squeaking, rubbing, or weak brakes Brake inspection, adjustments, pad replacements, and related services
Rough shifting or a chain that needs attention Chain replacements, tune-ups and general safety adjustments
Power, display, or charging problems Electrical diagnostics and compatible component adjustments
(Note: We do not repair individual battery cells.)

Flat tires and air leaks

Pumped up your tire, only to find it low again before your next ride?

We inspect the tire, inner tube, valve, and wheel before recommending the appropriate repair. Our services include tire and tube replacement, along with valve inspection and replacement for compatible models.

A quick tip: If you’ve already added air, let us know how quickly the tire loses pressure. That gives us a useful detail to start with.

Brakes that need attention

Are your brakes squeaking, rubbing, or taking more effort to stop than usual?

We inspect e-scooter and e-bike braking systems and offer adjustments, brake pad replacement, and hydraulic brake bleeding. The work needed depends on your braking system and what the inspection shows.

You don’t have to figure out which part to ask for. Tell us how the brakes feel, and we’ll take it from there.

E-bike tune-ups and mechanical repairs

Not every visit starts with a complete breakdown. Maybe the gears aren’t shifting smoothly, the chain needs attention, or your e-bike is due for a tune-up.

We service common mechanical issues involving tires, brakes, chains and drivetrain components, along with general adjustments.

Electrical problems

A blank display or a charging problem can leave you wondering where to start.

We offer diagnostics for issues involving controllers, displays, throttles, charging ports, wiring and electrical connections. Available repairs depend on the model, the issue and compatible parts.

One thing to know: we don’t repair or rebuild individual battery cells. Where appropriate, a complete battery replacement may be an option for a compatible model.

How does a repair visit work?

Getting your ride repaired starts with getting it to us – but that doesn’t mean you have to bring it in yourself.

  1. Drop it off or arrange a pick-up. Walk-ins are welcome during business hours. If getting to the shop is difficult, request our pick-up and drop-off service through the repair form on our website. It is $40 round-trip, and we’ll call you to schedule your pick-up.
  2. We inspect your ride. Tell us what’s happening, and we’ll check what needs attention.
  3. We explain the next step. We’ll go over the recommended work and estimated cost before repairs begin.

Repair pricing depends on the model and the work required. Parts are additional unless otherwise stated.

How long will it take? Some tire and brake repairs may be completed within a few hours when compatible parts are in stock. Diagnostics, special-order parts, and the shop’s workload can mean a longer wait. We will try our best to get your repair done within 3 days.

Can't bring your ride to the shop? We'll come to you.

A heavy e-scooter with a flat tire or an E-bike that won’t run isn’t easy to move. Our pick-up and drop-off service saves you the trip: we collect your ride, bring it to our shop for repair, and return it when the work is complete.
